Dear Seniors and Parents,
I trust that this note finds you all well, safe, and healthy.
Here we are in the middle of another week of stay-at-home orders. I don’t know about you, but for me the initial novelty of the new way that we do school has worn off, and we're now left with new and very different routines that will last until at least Thursday, April 30. I miss seeing and interacting with you.
You all have been on my heart and in my prayers a lot lately. This is not the way that we, or you, would have planned to end your high school experience. I feel sad that so many of the end-of-school-year activities and celebrations are up in the air at this point. I do want you to know, however, that we are planning that we will hold graduation at some point. It is too early to say if it will be on May 21 or if we will need to push it back into June. But it will happen.
We have no control over when the stay-at-home orders will be lifted or when traditional schooling can resume. But we will keep you informed as soon as we receive information from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) about schooling in May and end of year activities.
It is hard to believe that we are in the middle of Holy Week and are preparing for a very different Easter celebration in our churches than in years past. I trust that you will be able to celebrate the good news that the tomb is empty and that we have a risen Savior who lives to make intercession for us with the Father (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25).
Head of School
Thank you for your patience regarding the Washington D. C. trip. At this point it is becoming clear that we will not able to take this amazing trip, this year. I have been in contact with the tour company, American Christian Tours (ACTS) and I believe we have a plan for moving forward.
Basically, we are going to postpone the trip until next school year. The dates for the trip will be May 10-14, 2021.
- For current 7th and 8th grade students who enrolled at Trinity Oaks for next school year in either 8th or 9th grade, the trip will simply be a year later. No need to do anything.
- For current 7th and 8th grade students and their chaperones who do not return to Trinity Oaks for the 20-21 school year we will work with ACTS to secure a refund. We would also ask that you return the “flower money” that was given to you to help defray the cost of your child’s trip. (Please check with Mrs. Haslow if you are unsure of that amount.)
This means that we will not be taking the Springfield Trip next school year. We know that this is also a great trip but the student consensus year after year is that the Washington D. C. trip is the “not to miss experience.”
Thank you for your understanding. For those of you who will be looking for a refund, I will keep you informed as I receive more information from ACTS.
